One of the more onerous tasks in the Civil War books business is trying to put a set of Official Records in proper order and then determine if the set is complete. Later reprints have serial numbers on the spine, which make the job easier. However, the original edition didn't feature serial numbers for the first volumes and often the original set is found in such poor condition that it is impossible to read the spine lettering.

By utilizing the following checklist one can assemble a set of Official Records and be sure the job is done right. Woefully, the world will now know that volumes 54 and 55 were never published, and the supply of supposedly incomplete sets (those lacking these two volumes) at a good price will probably end.
